Rosewood-venereed pillow-shaped sewing box, embossed and gilded, with revolving lid, chiselled bronze decorations and corners embellished by stylized acorns. It rests on four claw-shaped feet.

A sewing-table with an identical box on the top was sold in Paris, Hotel Drouot, on Mars 15, 1983. It is illustrated in Mobilier Domestique, vol. 1, publ. Nationale, Paris, 2003, by Nicole de Reyniès. A print from Journal des Dames (library of Arts Décoratifs in Paris) represents this model coming from Maison Roche, passage de l’Opéra, as stated by the label on box’s back.
